Advantages:
1. Widely used in Sweden
Swish is Sweden's payment method. Almost every Swede with a smartphone uses Swish — making it a must-have payment option for webshops targeting the Swedish market.
2. Lightning-fast mobile payments
Customers pay with a few taps on their phone. The payment is real-time, with no intermediate steps. This ensures a smooth checkout, especially on mobile, and reduces the chance of customers abandoning their purchase.
3. Immediate confirmation and fast processing
Once the payment via Swish has been completed, you will immediately see the confirmation in your webshop. This allows you to process orders faster and start deliveries sooner.
Disadvantages:
1. Only suitable for Swedish consumers
Swish only works for customers with a Swedish bank account and mobile phone number. This option is therefore not available to international customers.
2. Not supported by all PSPs as standard
Swish is less widely integrated with international payment service providers. You may therefore need a more specialized PSP, especially if you want to combine Swish with methods such as Bancomat Pay (Italy) or TWINT (Switzerland).
3. Less well known outside Sweden
Although Swish is very popular in Sweden, the rest of Europe is largely unfamiliar with the method. This also means that support, documentation, and plug-ins are sometimes limited in other languages or systems.
